As much as we’ll miss the sunny autumn days, winter is certainly on the way.

Before it takes hold and brings much needed rain to our region, now is the perfect time to prepare your home.

Ensuring your gutters and down pipes are clear and ready to let the rain drain through them is an important part of that preparation.

Not sure whether you need to have your gutters cleaned? Here’s some FAQ’s that might help you make up your mind.

Why are gutters so important?

Gutters are an integral part of the health of your home. They control the flow of rainwater, diverting this away from your home.

Blocked gutters can cause leaking into your roof, wall cavities and worse, making regular cleaning very important. Leaking gutters an cause internal flooding in some instances and can therefore cause damage to internal furnishings as well.

I thought cleaning gutters was the tenant’s responsibility?

Gutter cleaning is part of property maintenance and forms part of the landlord’s responsibility to upkeep the home.

But I don’t have any trees nearby, why should I clean my gutters?

You would be surprised of what can travel on a windy day and land in your gutters. Leaves, dirt and other debris can travel a long way and make a home in your gutters. This poses a risk to your property if left unattended.

How often should I be cleaning my gutters? 

The frequency of your gutter cleans depends on a number of, however we recommend that your gutters should be cleaned at least once per year.

Do I have to organise the gutters to be cleaned myself?

No! If your one of our much loved landlords, we’ll do everything for you. We even organise 3 quotes for your consideration. All you need to do is send us an email and we’ll do the rest!
